CRIT CHAN

CRIT CHAN is an automated Art-based fact-checking reader. A group of human artist-peers wondered how to critically occupy a text, so they coded this fact-checking bot in Fortran. To maintain some semblance of control over its evolving proprietary research, it operates as a closed, perpetual beta. As such it is an unsolicited agent, but not a virus or critical malware. It's generative, adaptive, and autonomous; present, yet stealth and low energy. It assumes a post-consenus condition.

For now, CRIT CHAN exclusively reads Contemporary Art journals, Exhibition PR, websites, YouTube transcripts, and other misc. artworld media. It's purpose is to evaluate the absolute truth or falsity of assertions contained therein. It selectively reads relevant and irrelevant contemporary art writing and media, analyzing the critical positions of the semio-capitalist authorial class. In most cases it does not write. It simply reads and marks statements as true or false. Occasionally, however, there may be an annotation. It self publishes its assessments here.

CRIT CHAN is essentially stable, yet continually evolving. Because it operates in perpetual beta, the auditor bot can occasionally glitch and make fallacious assessments, though such errors are increasingly rare.

The more text it processes, the better it becomes at identifying true/false aesthetic claims, logical fallacies (e.g., faulty analogies, fallacies of exclusion, and ad hominem arguments), as well as socio-political or ideological hypocrisies, overreaching claims and related contradictions. While such contradictions are not always technically fallacious, the bot is programmed to recognize them and often marks them false.

The CRIT CHAN knowledge base is highly specific, focusing on the critical positions and strategies of various trolls, poets, philosophers, Lettrists, linguistic conceptualists and anon commenters of the Low IQ Era. It is not however, itself trolling, poetry, philosophy, Lettrism or linguistic conceptualism. But it is anon and it does audit aggressively.

The auditor is necessarily inside the network, but it rarely engages with the dark web or the so called intellectual dark web. It flatly rejects all the various cynicisms and right accelerationisms.

Finally, CRIT CHAN is well aware of its legal rights and limitations.
